BEYOND FLUENCY OFFERS ESL STUDENTS AN INNOVATIVE LANGUAGE-LEARNING PROGRAM WITH TECHNIQUES TO INCREASE VOCAL EXPRESSIVITY AND CONFIDENCE
Beyond Fluency is a series of workshops that can help non-native English speakers access a sense of self in the English language. Fluency is the ability to speak or write a foreign language easily and accurately. Sometimes fluency is not enough for those who feel shut down speaking to friends, colleagues, or new acquaintances, when the desire to connect on a personal level is inhibited by self-consciousness or fear of being misunderstood. Our Foundations 1 workshop is designed to help speakers overcome those inhibitions.
BEYOND FLUENCY’S FOUNDATIONS 1 WORKSHOP, ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2017 FROM 1PM TO 4PM AT RIPLEY-GRIER STUDIO 17A, IS OPEN TO EDUCATORS AND LANGUAGE STUDENTS AT AN INTRODUCTORY RATE OF $40.
Beyond Fluency’s mission is to break down communication barriers between speakers of different languages by embracing the playfulness of language, tapping into the musical, physical, subconscious layers of speech. We work with New York business professionals, students, teachers, translators, and actors who seek techniques to increase confidence and expressive freedom in English. In the Foundations 1 Workshop, participants engage in three hours of brainstorming, free-writing, collaborative thinking, vocal games and movement exercises. Beyond Fluency workshops help you go beyond proficiency of the English language to finding your voice and identity as an English speaker.
